I found out something really annoying about collaboration today.
I asked my mate Mischa what action the term implied and her answer was:
“A shared acceptance of responsibility.”
That was pretty much it.
No flowery language or long winded consultant / guru / corporate bollox.
Of course, there was more to our conversation than that, but I am not sure what I really expected her to say.
In fact, I was resistant to even asking the question.
The laugh is on people like me that use all the words like “collaborate” and “engage” with no explanation.
I know what I mean with these words, that does not mean anyone else knows what I think I am saying.
Which is why Mischa’s answer is the best one yet. It makes “grown up sense” to me and simply just cuts through the bollox.
What is annoying about collaboration?
I am bothered by the idea of Collaboration as much as I am bothered by the ideas of coworking, business and especially sharing economy.
They are superpowers that if allowed to fall into the wrong hands turn into greedy and manipulative forces.
All of these ideas combined are the next phase of an exciting, connected and abundant world.
Not Donald Trump prosperous.
But you knew that.
