What do an exercise bike and tomato have in common?
There was a perfectly good tomato sitting in a fridge on the south side of Camden, no one knew it yet but after the long journey from seed to this fridge, it was going to end up in the bin and travel to a landfill somewhere in Essex.
The owner of the tomato had an exercise bike she had bought a couple of years before, it sat in the corner of her bedroom with clothes hanging on it.
Like the tomato it had been purchased with the ambition of access to a healthier life. At no point had she intended to waste her money, or the tomato or the exercise bike. Meanwhile, in a parallel Universe, amazing things were happening at Euston Street’s number one co-working space.
The overall atmosphere of @Work Hubs is always one of freedom, democracy and interdependence, but everyone had to be in for this game whether they liked it or not.
The fridge arrived and started to fill with food from the local area. Not just any food, food that would have been thrown away, discarded, wasted, never to fulfil its purpose in this world.
Then Treasa May and Donald Trump met, fell in love and retreated to a farm in Argentina and were never heard of again.
Imagine how good our World can be when we all do a little.
You have guessed by now that part of the above story is made up.
The Olio app and the Fridge in our coworking space are true
We are looking for a better way to connect with the other businesses and residents in the streets around @WorHubs here in Euston.
Ever since @WorkHubs opened about three years ago we have run a networking breakfast in one way or another, this time, we wanted to do something and little more interesting than bacon sandwiches and business cards.
Our OuiShare friend Elena Giroli had told us about the Olio food sharing app and it was love at first sight. Michael from Olio came over to our first breakfast under the new banner and we were off! Philip and Oliver tried to look for a second-hand fridge to keep the project 100% recycled but in the end we had to buy a brand new one, and here it is with Charlotte from Olio and Phil!

Stay tuned for updates and we’ll be posting photos on our Facebook page and Twitter, also one of our next podcasts will be about the details of Olio!
