1. Write Club
Every Thursday morning you can come and join us for ‘Write Club’ where we gather to write in a dedicated quiet here at @Work Hubs.
You don’t have to be George Orwell or J.K. Rowling, you just need a little urge to get going and are looking for a place to get that going er, going.
This is no charge for this session but you need to book below.
Happens every week and is a ‘drop in thing!’
2. Money & You
It would almost be impossible to separate our emotions from our money entirely. And some of those emotions play into our priorities, they help us determine what is most important to us, and what makes us the most happy. And some of those emotions make us impulsive and irrational and threaten to upset the budget and our long-term goals. There has to be a balance.
3. CRM vs SEO?
In days gone by, marketers were forced to imagine the behaviors of their ideal clients. But a social CRM that tracks clients’ and prospective clients’ digital footprints takes the guesswork out of the process by giving you a more complete view of their preferences and behavior. What channels are they using? What groups do they belong to? What articles are they clicking, sharing, and linking to? Which influencers do they follow? And what keywords are they searching?
4. Freelancing Pro 'Tings'
There seems to be a tipping point for me when I go from being really busy to so-busy-I’m-paralyzed-and-can’t-do-anything.
When I have too much on my plate my reaction is usually to just shut down and avoid work altogether (this is when Settlers of Catan gets a heavy workout on my iPad). In the past I’ve been prone to other distractors like TV binging, but each of these amounts to the same unconscious purpose: to occupy my mind so I don’t have to face the reality of my workload.
5. Facebook Me!
President Muhammadu Buhari has been under pressure since he retook office in 2015. He promised to reform the country’s endemic corruption, a Herculean task that isn’t coming easy. This week, newspapers are proclaiming that the country is entering its worst recession in 29 years. And then there’s his failure to rescue the 276 schoolgirls kidnapped in the town of Chibok by the Boko Haram extremist opposition group. The Zuckerberg visit is a gift.
